Tome of Madness by Play’n GO

The most beloved mascot of Play’n GO, Rich Wilde is back with a new adventure. This handsome lookalike of Indiana Jones made several appearances in earlier games like: Book of Dead and Aztec Idols This time he’s not back at a historical event or place but in the universe Cthulhu Mythos. This is a place that is feared by the mighty god like creature Cthulhu.

How to play

You will help Rich Wilde in his journey by discovering the secrets of Cthulhu. With the ultimate goal of summoning the god-like creature. However, this cannot be done so easily and you have to be lucky. Tome of Madness has a grid of 5 by 5 and you win by landing 4 or more of the same symbols. By each spin the winning symbols will be replaced by new ones in order to land more wins. This sounds pretty normal but what if I tell you that this slot is packed to the brim with different features? To start there are Eye Marks, these tiles are marked by Cthulhu himself and landing winning combinations on these tiles will award you with 2 Special Wilds. These wilds will be added when you’re losing in the game. What the Special Wilds are will be told soon. Similar to other slot machines with grids the fun part is the fill up meter next to the grid.

While filling the Portal Meter by landing winning combinations different things can happen:

  • 7 symbols: 2 Special Wilds are added to the grid
  • 14 symbols: 2 Special Wilds are added to the grid and if the winning combination is created by a Special Wild, the Abyss Portal Effect feature is activated.
  • 27 symbols: The same event happens as landing 14 symbols
  • 42 symbols: You activate the Other World Free Round feature
For the 2 special wilds there are the Abyss Portal Effect, a row or column will be removed from the Special symbol and the cleared symbols will be replaced with new ones. When the Void Portal Effect is triggered the void will choose a random symbol and removes it from the grid to be replaced by new ones. For the Other World Free Round that can be activated by landing 42 symbols winning combinations. You are awarded with 1 free round and 3 random portal effects! During this round you will open the Eye of Cthulhu itself and see this as overcharging the portal. For every 3 winning symbols that you collect you will be given an additional portal effect. This can be stacked up to 7 portal affects.

It’s a lot to take in, I know, but hang on: there’s even more! When a portal effect is activated but it triggers no wins the following events can occur:

  • Special wilds: 4 Special Wilds are granted to the grid
  • Abyss: 4 Special Wilds are granted to the grid and a winning combination is created with any Special Wild will activate the Abyss Portal Effect.
  • Void: 4 Special Wilds are granted to the grid and a winning combination is created with any Special Wild will activate the Void Portal Effect.
The last feature to explain is the Mega Wild that you can earn in the Other World Free Round. You can summon Cthulhu itself from the other world. These are 11 or 12 Eye Marks on the grid and by landing combinations on all of them will activate the Mega Wild. It will appear on the grid form above and move 1 tile at the time down by creating a massive amount of winning combinations. It creates absolute chaos and a lot of change to get big wins. For the more standard info on betting. You can start with as little of €0.10 up to €100 per spin. So everyone can hop in and enjoy this adventure with Rich Wilde.

The looks

The world of Cthulhu Mythos is created by H.P Lovecraft and Tome of Madness seeps into the mind of this popular American writer. The slot is set in a dark abandoned hallway. The mist will gaze around the grid and flashing sparks of thunder will shine through the cracked windows. The only comfort you will see is this always handsome looking Rich Wilde that’s holding a mysterious book. On the grid you see different objects associated within the Cthulhu universe: a Cthulhu pendant, a dagger, a ring, a Cthulhu inspired mask and 4 different coloured stones with marks in it. The book that Rich is wielding can be also found on the grid as a Special Wild and Rich Wilde himself is the multiplier wild that doubles all wins. The last “thing” that you can find on the grid is the mighty god creature himself: Cthulhu as the Mega Wild.
